Festivals

Festivals for autumn 2024 will be published soon!

In its current form, Reflektor is an audiovisual arts festival that aims to bring light, video and sound art to places where it is not normally found. The events are an accessible way to enjoy art in the midst of everyday life, to experience unexpected moments in familiar landscapes. Take a look at past years below.

Reflektor 2024

The year 2024 started with the Reflektor Kerava 100 special, which kicked off the centenary year of Kerava. The festival, which was set up for the first time in the city centre, attracted 12 500 visitors.

Reflektor 2023

In 2023, Reflektor expanded for the first time outside the Helsinki metropolitan area to Sotkamo. Around 5500 visitors gathered at Hiukan Harju, more than half of Sotkamo’s population! In addition, the event in Vantaa’s Martinlaakso and its satellite event in Korso, as well as the already popular Muksut Mäppää in Malmi, attracted a total of 12 000 visitors.

Reflektor 2022

Vantaa and Espoo were again Reflektor venues in 2022, in addition to Malmi, Helsinki. Vantaa’s Koivukylä and Malmi saw itinerant events and Espoon Keskus saw satellite works. Reflektor Vantaa also expanded to Lumosali in Korso with one satellite work. For the first time, Malmi experienced a community-based Muksut Mäppää artwork, where Malmi primary school children had their own artwork projected on the wall of the Malmi Postal House. A total of 39 000 visitors admired the light and video works.

Reflektor 2021

In autumn 2021, Reflektor was already spread to four different locations: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen. The festivals at the former logistics centre Keran Hallit in Kera, Espoo and Martinlaakso in Vantaa were the main events of the autumn, while smaller satellite works were admired in Kauniainen and Vuosaari in Helsinki. The events reached a total of 48 000 visitors and the smaller satellite events were also perceived as a successful concept.

Reflektor 2019/2020

In 2019 and 2020, Reflektor moved to Korso, where the successful festivals attracted 32 000 visitors in total. Reflektor brought light and video art to an easily accessible urban destination, while the nature of the Ankkapuisto helped to create an atmosphere along the route.

Reflektor 2018

The first Reflektor was held in 2018 in Kivinokka, Helsinki, where the event attracted more than 11 000 light art enthusiasts. The event succeeded in its aim to bring art to places where it has not been seen before and the positive feedback inspired the team to develop the future of the event.
