REFLEKTOR – MAKING ART ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE

Set in public parks, indoor venues, old industrial halls and other unique locations, Reflektor Festival of audiovisual art invites viewers on a transitional journey. The route, which ventures though darkness, transitions mundane everyday spaces into dreamlike and thought-provoking experiences.

In 2023, the main events of the festival will be held in Vantaa. A two-kilometre-long exhibition route consisting of 12 visually stunning artworks calls for visitors in Martinlaakso. In addition to the route, three artists will take over Lumosali, in Korso, with moving and beaming art. Furthermore, satellite events will be popping up in Helsinki and Sotkamo.

Reflektor presents light, sound and video art by artists from Finland and abroad. Accessibility is a key focus for the festival, which strives to bring art closer to people.

Reflektor is free of charge and open to everyone.

THE IDEA

Reflektor is a light art festival born out of the passion and curiosity of its creators. Reflektor thrives in the dark, lives from the urge of making and the desire to craft unique experiences and spaces for everyone to enjoy. Reflektor focuses on the accessibility of its content and venues. Details on accessibility can be found on the information page.

Reflektor wants to provide space and visibility for surprising, diverse, and high-quality light art with a vision. Social, community engaging, and entertaining art have an important role in the diverse festival program.

The festival has been organized yearly since 2018 as a nomadic event, not tied to places or locations. Over 40 000 people visited the Reflektor 2022 edition. In 2023 Reflektor will be expanding for the first time outside of the Helsinki metropolitan area into Sotkamo.
