Joakim Udd
– Välittäjä
Välittäjä (translation: Mediator) is a semi-mechanical work, consisting of arms, joints, buggies, chains, and the motor that moves them. At the end of the arms, narrow beams of light follow the created path and draw out a glowing shape. The work contemplates humans as a means of representing technology. Technology extracts a wish and brings out a form of itself.
Joakim Udd’s (b.1992) working process is driven by an interest in dimensions, minimalism, and its maximization. He has worked extensively with live performance and the performing arts. In addition, he has performed curatorial work for light art events and production design. Udd, who works as an artist and lighting designer, is currently a master’s student of lighting design at the University of the Arts Helsinki.
