The light that once was here is here again, but as so transformed that one could not say it remains the same.

The landscape surrounding the artwork was captured with a camera, then deconstructed and returned to the landscape as light. The artwork is light from the past intertwined into the present; day turning into night and the constant change of landscape.

Previous versions of the work have been presented at Reflektor Koivukylä (2022) and Lux Helsinki (2024).

Saana Volanen is a Helsinki-based lighting designer and set designer, whose work is influenced by concepts such as spatial sensitivity, landscape and camera obscura. Volanen works in the fields of performing arts and light art.
