Yhteisötaideteos Malmi Maps, 2024

Malmi Maps is a collaborative visual art project. Children from Malmi have been invited to create artworks on a theme of their choice, which have been projected onto the wall of the Malmi Postal House. A total of 100 children have taken part in the project and now have the opportunity to experience the works they have created as a projection on the façade. The objectives of the project are to transform urban space through art, to increase cultural participation of residents, to create memories for future light and video artists and to promote public awareness of the art form.

The project will also be accompanied by a study, in collaboration with the The Central Union for Child Welfare, to find out how children are affected by making art and seeing their own work. The results of the research will be published on Reflektor’s channels.

The project has been implemented with a development grant from the City of Helsinki for the Helsinki Model.
