Yhteisötaideteos Lyhtypuisto, 2024
The Lyhtypuisto concept, developed by Sun Effects, originally started as a project with art students and professionals. Since then, the idea has been carried out in collaboration with schools and kindergartens, among others. Over the years, various artist and student groups have participated, including the artist and craftsman collective Onoma from Fiskars (Fiskars Fire and Light, 2015), volunteers from the startup event Slush, several schools from Kuusamo (Polar Night Light, 2018–2019), and the staff of the Baltic Circle theater festival (Lux Helsinki 2019). Lyhtypuisto has been part of Lux Helsinki (2012–2020) and has also appeared at the Hatchina light art festival in St. Petersburg (2018). The Autism Foundation has also been involved, with works by its members displayed at Reflektor Vantaa 2023.
The 2024 Reflektor Vantaa will mark Lyhtypuisto’s final appearance. After the event, the lanterns will be ceremonially and honorably retired.
