“The inspiration for ‘Kodama’ came from the tales of Japanese tree spirits, Kodamas, that inhabit trees and protect the forest. Inspired by these tales, our installation is a juxtaposition of light and dark, human and plant, technology and nature. Kivinokka, with its location at the edge of the city of Helsinki, is a meeting place between the darkness of nature and the light of the city. Kodama represents both of these worlds, and visitors are invited to engage, play and explore with them.”

Circuit Circus is a Copenhagen-based interaction design studio that focuses on novel and interesting encounters with technology. They are often inspired by natural phenomena, but while digitally mimicing nature, they do not try to improve, replace or copy it. Behind Circuit Circus is a group of people with backgrounds in Digital Media and Interaction Design.
